About Department

Ras Al Khaimah Department of Economic Development was established in 1981 by Emiri Decree No. (11) issued by the late H.H. Sheikh Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qasimi. On January 1, 2007, with the approval of His Highness, Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler at the time, changed the name of the department from the "Economic Department" to the "Department of Economic Development". Thus, the functions and objectives of the department have been reformulated to become more comprehensive and provide a variety of licensing, commercial control, and consumer protection services. The aim is to further provide different facilities for investors in Ras Al Khaimah and furnish official data and statistics that serve all segments of society, either to study the labor market and investment climate in the UAE or for business research.

Planning and organizing economic activities, augmenting investment promotion efforts and the business environment competitiveness to achieve sustainable economic development in the Emirate by relaying on qualified staff and intelligent integrated systems that are hinged on knowledge and innovation to achieve society happiness
